De Vine Wines is a blend of three individuals, whose love of good wine and the Central Otago lifestyle is paramount;

Matt Evans / Winemaker
Matt was born and bred on the North Shore's beautiful beaches. A move to the remote alpine environment and tranquility of Queenstown was in order for fresh air, mountain runs and to escape big city life. Matt's winemaking career began in 1998 at Gibbston Valley where he assisted in creating over half a dozen award winning Central Otago labels and helping Gibbston Valley to amass more awards for Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Gris than any other producer in the country.
During his 9 years of winemaking Matt has traveled the world extensively increasing winemaking skills and knowledge, mainly to Oregon, USA, to work in premium wineries. Matt is now on his 18th vintage of making high quality cool climate varietals. 2006 saw Matt branch out on his own to create the inaugural vintage of Amante Riesling and De Vine Pinot Noir, and wants production to be limited enabling the highest quality focused on top marketplaces and exclusive clientele. With his partners involved and friends in the vineyards and winery, he is excited about taking Central Otago wine to the next level. |

Peter Waters / Restauranteur
Peter is an Englishman by birth who has lived in New Zealand for 19 years. He worked in the financial markets for 13 years and ran a successful money broking and futures business in Wellington. Peter completed a full time MBA at Otago University in early 2003 and opened The Postmaster's House Restaurant shortly after. This business has been highly successful and is complemented by The Postmaster's Deli, also situated in Arrowtown.
"I have always been passionate about New Zealand food and wine and I was very excited when Matt and I got the chance to do something together in Central Otago. My ownership of the Postmaster's helps us as a wine business in terms of understanding the trends of the marketplace." |
